Fantastic!

I love this book because McKenna is into gymnastics and so am I. This is the first time I've been able to relate to a character in a book. And that's pretty weird because I've read millions of books! ( I love to read.) (:

challenges

I've loved American girl ever since I discovered I it back in 2006. Although I'm a little "old" for these books now (I'm almost done with 7th grade) I still enjoy the same American girl stories I enjoyed when I was 7. I've read all of the girl of the year books and while I don't think this is the best one it has all the same qualities I love American girl for. It is sweet, uplifting, easy to understand (great for younger kids!) and, well, enjoyable. While I honestly couldn't relate to mckenna (I've read nearly everything at my library and I do mean nearly everything) she was still a sweet girl and I enjoyed her charecter and personality. Although slightly simplistic she was still fun and somewhat believable. Mckenna brooks has done well in school, gymnastics is her life's passion, she has two 5 year old twin sisters Mara and maisey , she lives in Seattle and also has a dog named Cooper. That's just the way her life has been. But at the beginning of 4th grade she is having trouble understanding what she is reading about. It just gets worse and her parents threaten to pull back with gymnastics. That's where josie comes in. Josie is mckenna's, to her embarrassment, tutor. Josie is also in wheelchair. Although I am fine with people in wheelchairs and I'm aware that they can do many of same things I can I was afraid it would be to goody goody but in the book it worked itself out nicely. Mckenna faces challenges but over comes them with help from family and friends. I'm also taking this chance to voice my opinion on the fact that for years American girl has "messages". With Chrissa it was bulling lanie it was the enviorment kanani it was monk seals and now it is mckenna with doing well in school. Can American girl please do a fun American girl before I am 30? All in all it was a good book though, not life changing but still good.

I really enjoyed this book. I could really relate to the character, which made this one of the best books I've read.
