About the Author
Dr. Mary-Lou Galicianis a media literacy advocate who lectures and consults nationally and internationally. She is frequently interviewed and cited by the mass media and is Head of Media Analysis & Criticism in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism & Mass Communication at Arizona State University, where she created the popular course, Sex, Love, & Romance in the Mass Media. A former newspaper columnist, public television producer/director and nighttime talkshow host, and national marketing and advertising executive, she earned her doctorate in 1978 from Memphis State University (now University of Memphis), with a clinical residency in Human Values & Medical Ethics from University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences. She was the University Fellow in Broadcasting at Syracuse University (M.S., 1969) and a Conolly College Scholar at Long Island University (B.A., 1966), and she was named a national 2005-2006 AEJMC/ASJMC Journalism Leadership in Diversity (JLID) Fellow.

Keyboard Suites

What a delightful surprise! Until a couple of days ago, I was unfamilar with Buxtehude's harpsichord music. These are little gems. Miniature, if you will. I see them as a good learning tool for intermediate students. Once learned and some embellishment added, they will make anyone one in the room happy to hear their preformance.

Because the service was very efficient, arrival time weeks before expected, an excellent way to purchase music scores. For a second hand volume conditon was exceptionally good. The harpsichord music of Buxtehude is not generally played but worth spending some time with.

Misleading Title; This Book Is Not About Shooting A Rifle Accurately

As others have stated, the title of this book is really misleading. This book is about benchrest rifle shooting, not the general area of rifle accuracy. If you are not interested in benchrest competition shooting don't bother buying this book. Also, the author continually talks about people he shoots with in the book. I don't care about John Doe, Billy Bob, Joe Public, etc - they have nothing to do with the subject at hand.

You have to read this book!

"The Ultimate in Rifle Accuracy" by Glenn Newick ISBN:0-88317-159-7

Friends, I just read a great book on the above mentioned title. It is short, and plumb full of tips, advice and teaching on getting the most accuracy out of your rifle. The author writes primarily of Benchrest type shooting and the 6PPC cartridge, but he does give advice about hunting rifles, calibers too. He has a whole chapter on getting the most out of your hunting rifle with many explanations of why shots go wrong. There is a detailed section on how to reload rifle rounds for maximum accuracy, in a most straight forward way. One of the tips I liked the most is that of never resting your front sling attachment point on the rest when you shoot. As the recoil moves the first 2/10 inch before the bullet leaves the barrel, you have an upward jerk that moves the shot off course. This was priceless. He also said that if you use any kind of a wind flag, be it a ribbon your groups will decrease by 25%. Just like those tips there are several throughout a very easy to read book. Take this from a man (Glenn Newick, not me) that can put 5 shots into the size of a dime at 200 yards, and you know you can come away with something. I learned about this book by reading a Precision Shooting Magazine compilation of articles. It referred to this book so many times I knew they were onto something. It is a short read and I guarantee you will come away with something that will make you a better rifle shoot. -Migs

Its like sitting next to an old man who wont stop telling you old war stories or keeps nagging on about how much better it was "back in the day"... But if you listen hard enough and dont get bored with the flashbacks, you can pick out bits and pieces of usefull information. Worth buying if under $6.

This book is written in a lean manner. It is simple, common and easy to read. It describes ordinary things and ideas very clearly and with one purpose. This book provides all the roadmap, tools and insight needed to allow plants to achieve excellence. The authors take great pains to address common failures issues. They provide a single source handbook that any plant can understand and use, a source with example metrics and tools, with logic and simple ideas to prevent and overcome the daily issues faced by the team that implements Lean.
This is not a book that deals much about soft issues. It is not a fuzzy warm feeling book about the people side, nor is it a motivational "you can do it" book. It is a frank easy to read book about simple steps and simple ideas that make plants great. It explains the people issues and the fact that unless working teams make the decisions and changes Lean will not happen. It is a long book, more of handbook length, but much easier to read.
Lean Manufacturing: A Plant Floor Guide fills the space between a detailed "How To" text and an overview. It provides coverage of every key issue in moving to Lean Manufacturing, offering rationale, plans and encouragement.

From the opening pages, to the last, this book summed up how to take your plant and make it "lean."

I have used the guidelines in the book at work and it has seemed to work seemlessly.

The information was sound and true. If you are looking for a down to earth approach and a way to get it done, then get this book!

A great reference!

From understanding your customers needs, metrics, building a solid business case and launching a methodical process, this book has all the tools necessary for a sound lean transition.
Perhaps most importantly, it offers reliable advice on overcoming resistance and building an effective team.
