The goal of this book is to help programmers become more effective at design and build Angularjs UI applications.

The first two chapters are focused on setting up the environment and on introducing the angularjs companion suite.
In the subsequent chapters, the readers are guided through some advanced topics such as: calendar and google-maps (ch. 3), data-grid (ch.4), animations (Ch. 5), Chart & graphics (ch. 6).
The final part of the book explains how to integrate Angularjs and Twitter Bootstrap (utilizing AngularUI Bootstrap project) and how to build a mobile SPA (single page application) with some suggestions on the optimization of the user experience.
Each topic is explained in detail and accompanied by examples and activities.
The book focuses more on the integration of angularjs with tirth party tools and less on the basics of the framework.
This approach can be either good or bad depending on the goal that you have in mind. In my opinion it can be a bit difficult and confusing for the novice but useful for anyone with more experience who has a specific problem to solve.

It's time for AngularJS, from the point of view of UI and a recently published book AngularJS UI Development from Packt publishing.

With this book in your hands you can learn how easy it's to implement front-end solutions with a touch of magic and straightforward. The book is divided in 10 chapter along which you can learn how UI modules for Angular work, the best modules for solving common problems, like using Calendars, google Maps, data grids; and easing transitions that give spectacular and nice effects to your applications.

The author prepares the environment to do a full complete application for AngularJS including Bower, Grunt, NodeJS, Protractor,Karma and Git. Of course, the book is about Angular, and those technologies are only for supporting a whole development environment. You don't need to follow every step to setting this environment, however it can be difficult to use the examples, otherwise; and sometimes the reading is based in how to incorporated one plugin or module for Grunt to make a build, or how to download it with Bower.

However, it gives to non beginners developers in front-end a complete guide to success making amazing and stunning web applications that solve common enterprise problems and brought to the forefront of the latest trends in functional design and style.

Merging of Reality with Virtuality

"Toward a Ludic Architecture : The Space of Play and Game" written by Steffen P. Walz, a well written informative book that carries the reader through the development of the computer with it's intended purpose of playing chess to the consumptive use for mass media involving play, games, and architecture. Twenty five percent of the book allows for definitions, historical backgound and references. That twenty five percent of material is neccessay for a novice like me who is unfamiliar with virtual games and the interaction of humans with virtual spaces.

He defines many of the simple words and activities which we are familar with, but which we donot really take into serious consideration. Activities that humans participate in ,but do not question the logic that is involved for instance the difference between play and games, and why and what is involved in these activities.

He also gives information about the purpose behind the games and spaces, the intentions of the creator and how the players are able to interact mentally and physically with the activities that are provided.

Steffen P. Walz main concept is the involvment of architecture with play, and games. By showing architecture in virtual spaces, it will become a part of virtual space as well as real space.

This book is a good reference text for all who play, play games, and who use virtual spaces. Walz predicts that virtual space will take over all present kinds of entertainment plus how we work and play in spaces.

Essential reading on play-related architecture

In "Toward a Ludic Architecture", Steffen P. Walz discusses various concepts of spatiality as it relates to games and play, but his focus is especially on architectural concepts, and ARG examples to which he himself has contributed. As a part of design literature, the book is an invaluable addition to the corpus of game spatiality and the way it links to similar ideas in structures, playgrounds, societies and so forth. The author is also exemplarily inclusive, being able to weave in theories from a variety of scholars. I especially liked the way he incorporates less well known Dutch and German language research works, making them now available to an international audience of scholars.

The book, rather surprisingly, does suffer from one big flaw. While inclusive in other regards, Walz is strangely limited in the way he discusses spatiality itself. The viewpoint is very much fixed to an architectural one, and the volume includes next to no references to the way space and place is treated in, say, philosophy, geography or telepresence research. Therefore, it is a book best utilized in the company of others, so as to give the otherwise excellent argumentation a much wider, yet totally appropriate (and very compatible) context.

This is a book that shoud be included in practically every game studies and/or design laboratory, and it would be of high value also to other fields, such as service design.

He was formerly Regius Professor of Divinity and a Canon of Christ Church at the University of Oxford. This philosophically oriented book offers a compelling argument against the social trinitarian model that has come to dominate much Christian theology. Ward argues clearly, biblically, and from his idealist philosophical assumptions. I highly recommend it!

About the Author
Robbie Bach joined Microsoft in 1988 and over the next twenty-two years worked in various marketing, general management, and business leadership roles, including working on the successful launch and expansion of Microsoft Office. As Chief Xbox Officer, he led the creation and development of the Xbox business, including the launch of the Xbox and the highly popular successor product, Xbox 360. He retired from Microsoft in 2010 as the President of the Entertainment and Devices Division. In his new role as civic engineer, Robbie currently serves on the national board of governors for the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and was the chairman of the board from 2009-2010. He is also a board member of the United States Olympic Committee, Sonos Inc., Brooks Running Company, the Space Needle Inc., and local chapters of Boys and Girls Clubs and Year Up. Robbie is a regular guest lecturer at universities across the country and frequently writes on business and civic issues. All profits from his writing and speaking activities are donated to charity. Robbie received an MBA from Stanford University and his bachelor's degree in economics from the University of North Carolina where he was a Morehead Scholar and named a first team Academic All-American on the Tar Heel's tennis team. He currently resides in Medina, Washington with his wife, Pauline, and their three children.

I can tell how much I enjoy a book by the speed in which I devour the pages. With this book I found myself pouring voraciously through the first section, and a bit more slowly digesting the second part. The primary message of Xbox Revisited focuses on a 3-pronged strategy that's easy to understand and implement: Purpose, Principal, and Priorities. It's a common-sense approach that many people will quickly find relevant. The relation to Xbox is primarily through the business piece; there is little (although not completely absent) focus on the inner workings of the video game industry. Overall I would, and have, recommended this book to my friends for the value and practicality of the 3P's approach to both personal and professional applications. Given how successful the methodology was inside Microsoft, I believe other businesses - as well as social and government entities - could benefit by taking a page from this book.

Simply Put: It Works

I just finished reading this book for the second time. It should be required reading for all B-school students, politicians and civic/business leaders. The focus is more on leadership and strategy than on Xbox (the Xbox business/gaming industry just serves as context). What makes the author’s strategy work is that it’s simple. In business, we tend to convolute things, a) because simplicity isn’t easy; and b) we mistakenly believe that the longer the business plan, the better it is. I’ve started using Mr. Bach’s 3P framework both in business and on a personal level. Simply put: It works.

It was one of the best classes I have taken

Robbie taught a class at my university using the principles and narratives of this book. It was one of the best classes I have taken. The frameworks he has created through his time at Microsoft are so applicable to any sort of problem, whether it the public or private sector. Having to prioritize simplicity in my thoughts and explanations after writing many long college papers was difficult, but that mindset is one I have tried to adopt in most of my communication now. This book is such an interesting read and highly recommended for anyone interested in business, politics/policy, or just a great story in general!

Top Ten Books on Composition

This book is a must read not only for students of Cezanne and Cubism, but for anyone who would like to understand how a composition is put together. By comparing photographs of subjects painted by Cezanne, to the paintings created, one can see what interested the master in his own work. Cezanne's classic remark about Monet ("He is only an eye. But what an eye!")is clearly relevant here: Cezanne is not only an eye function, but a meditation on the process of visual construction per se. A stimulating and important book.

Brilliant explanation of space & planes.

Pages 17 to 24 are a so called "Illustrated Glossary" and are worth buying the book for. The classic rules of space and depth and planes are explained in most of their complexity. Then he discusses many many examples of Cezanne's work and how they use the principles of space, planes, and depth. A masterpiece and extensive in its scope. If you really want this type of abstract picture understanding you will not be disappointed. Very highly recommended.

Interesting analysis

Many of Cézanne's paintings are essentially composed of flat, homogenous planes. He has no interest in textures and takes great freedom in choosing colours and distributing them patchwise. He also disregards proportions and perspective, making receding objects such as roads, mountains and hills stand up straight, so to speak, to the picture plane. Thus each plane in the painting "remains comparatively flat and parallel to the picture plane", but still the painting has a definite feeling of depth because of "the three-dimensional effect that a sequence of the same planes creates through overlapping" (plate XIII). "Cézanne's genius in organizing three-dimensional space is the basic foundation of his composition" and doing so by the plane colour patch approach agrees with the principle that a painting "must remain faithful to its own structure, to its fundamental two dimensions" (section XV). The organisation of space is achieved by the "tension" or "movement" created where planes overlap, and this is Loran's main framework for analysing Cézanne's paintings. With some imagination and many useful geometrical diagrams we can sum up the effects of the overlaps to a general movement; usually some sort of circular movement, always staying within the picture frame. Loran is very faithful to this point of view, even blaming Cézanne when it doesn't apply. In his analysis of a Sainte Victoire painting (plate X) he finds such a circular movement and concludes: "It is this circular movement that gives the painting it ultimate 'closed' effect. Actually, this canvas has many elements of open form ... personally, I find these latter elements insufficiently resolved and somewhat disturbing." Besides this analytic framework, Loran also makes more traditional analyses in terms of balance, dynamics, etc., and he also spends far too much time nagging about two pet topics: Cézanne's famous colour modulations are in fact of incidental importance and Cézanne anticipated Picasso and Braque.

Takin' It To Another Level

This urban novel by street legend Darryl "God" Whiting is an excellent read that will leave you wanting more. The author is actually the main character so his personality and beliefs come through in this fictional tale of what God would like to do if he came home right now. But that's not the case as he is still in prison, still this book reads like a revenge fantasy. A very in depth and entertaining revenge fantasy. Almost like a blueprint or how to on how to be a drug dealer written by someone who knows and is paying the ultimate price for his exploits in the streets, life in prison. The real God has been portrayed in the 1998 film In Too Deep and his story has also been featured in F.E.D.S. magazine and on American Justice on A&E. His fictional tale is just as intriguing but instead of going back he goes forward. Definitely check this out. If you like the classic urban fiction novels like Kwame Teague's Dutch series, Teri Woods True to the Game and Sister Souljah's The Coldest Winter Ever you will definitely enjoy this as it comes straight from the penitentiary to the streets. Enough said.
